Rockin' Routines
We hope the steady rhythm of this tune will help kids get the message of routines! You can use this song to teach the principle of doing the same basic things, in the same order, every day. Routines free us up to be creative and spontaneous without letting our lives slide into CHAOS! As you establish your home routines for morning, afternoon, and bedtime, keep them simple and keep them the same. Write down the routines, or use pictures for young kids, and put them where they can see and remember. Kids with routines are kids who don’t need a mother hen following them around all day nagging about what comes next. How nice is that?

Routines, routines, they keep me rockin'
Routines, routines, there's no stoppin' me
When I feel the power
Of my rockin' routines
First thing in the morning, I clear my head
I smile and yawn to greet the day then make my bed
Get myself ready down to my shoes
A healthy breakfast puts me in a rockin' mood
Routines, routines, they keep me rockin'
Routines, routines, there's no stoppin' me
When I feel the power
Of my rockin' routines
After school or after lunch I keep my cool
'Cause afternoons have routines now and that's my rule
Homework before playing, quickly get it done
After that I'm out of here and off to have some fun
Routines, routines, they keep me rockin'
Routines, routines, there's no stoppin' me
When I feel the power
Of my rockin' routines
Routines can organize my day
Give me much more time for play
Help me know what's coming next
I think routines are the best
With P.J.s on I brush my teeth, it's time for bed
My last routine helps me relax and plan ahead
Lay clothes out for tomorrow, think about my day
So proud that my routines have kept me rockin' on today
Routines, routines, they keep me rockin'
Routines, routines, there's no stoppin' me
When I feel the power
Of my rockin' routines
